Ice Ice Baby

As a new blogger, the weather has given me many opportunities lately to take pictures and blog about our lives. I am sure once the ice melts and school re-opens writing on my blog will soon turn into writing papers and group therapy. So enjoy this one I'm sure it will be awhile before I have free time again....

As we sat at home prepared for the worst we watched as it rained and froze, rain and froze, and a little more rain and then froze... 20 minutes north received 24 inches of snow and 20 minutes south had just rain.....Lucky us, we got ICE......

We went store to store trying to find wood for warmth in case the electricity went out but we were very lucky..... we had heat and beautiful scenery :)

ICE..... For those of you who have not seen the new house here it is at it's best......

We had many many fires burning the next few days...One it was terribly cold and two we had about 4 boxes of wood ;) We bundled up tight with temperatures getting down to about 3 degrees each day....

And of course we had to strike a pose or two :)

ICE...... And just when we thought we couldn't get enough Ice...I found Blues tickets online for 7$....And if anyone has met our son his entire life revolves around one thing.....Hockey....

ICE...... In case you were wondering, no we did not play the Blackhawks. Try explaining this to a 3 year old.... and luckily the cheapest thing at the gift shop was also the only blackhawk's merchandise... We have slept with this every night this week...

ICE......

What a great time....... We hope everyone is keeping warm....and miss and love u all (y'all) ;) !!!!!!!!!!!

Simple things in life

As many of you know, this last month or two has been filled with cold and bitter snow. Snow brings slick roads, bad drivers, wet dogs, and high electric bills. But to a child it means so much more. Snow angels, Snowmen, forts, snow cones, and other important things in life. Watching your child play in the snow really puts your daily annoyances into perspective. Life is how u look at it :)

Lindy and I decided it was best not to take the 8 month old outside so she and I watched from the dining room. The dogs and Jack ran circles for about an hour before he realized he couldn't feel his fingers. :)
Last week I scrubbed our new house down head to toe, including the windows. Jack helped out by giving it a little spit shine.... squeaky clean! Sometimes in life being silly is more important than tongue prints on my nice clean windows.
Lindy watched with amazement as her little buddy ran and screamed in the backyard. As we sat and watched I took in the appreciation and love of our new home! It's perfect in every way.Ask jack...he loves his backyard!

When I spend time with Jack and my babies I realize just how simple life is. Yes, you could say well of course kids think it's simple they have no problems, no bills, no jobs, etc. But I think children have something that we lose sight of with each year. It's not what we have but how we look at it....
The cold weather has also given us the chance to play silly games inside like Catcher!!

It has given us the opportunity to laugh until we cry and reconnect with one another.

Thank you snow....
Sometimes things we think are bad, like a long cold winter, can be just what we need. This winter has been a gift to our family. Watching movies, playing Mario Kart, or throwing a ball in the house are all things we probably wouldn't find the chance to do if we lived in 65 degree weather all year round. So everyone spend the day appreciating the little things and start looking at things differently because you never know when something that looks like a negative is actually a gift in disguise.

Trying Something New....

So I was sitting here surrounded by ice thinking how much I missed my family (the current and future) and so I decided to do what I commonly do each week, stalk my future sister's blog. I always enjoy reading about my future nephews and family and what they are doing.....It helps me feel like the months we go by without seeing them is only weeks. Jack also loves looking at "the boys" and always says "tomorrow we go to Tennessee?" And I say "soon baby, soon." So I said to myself..."I need another hobby, I can do this"... Each week I get up at 4:45am to work out followed by 2 babies from 6 am till around 6 pm and 2 days of that week I also have a double dose of my masters courses from 5:30pm till 10:30pm. So,in other words, I have plenty of time...Plus I thought how hard can it be right?

Wrong! After 4 hours and quitting 3 different times I finally got a background and 3 pictures!!!! That's right, I'm on a roll! So now the journey begins....
